Backun, an instrument maker in British Columbia, Canada, makes very fine products.  They have a beginners mouthpiece available called the Backun Alpha.  When you are ready to move up from a beginner mouthpiece, you will want to get a hard rubber mouthpiece, rather than plastic.  Their very popular Vocalise G mouthpiece, was designed by Backun and a famous mouthpiece maker, Richard Hawkins. Clark Fobes is an independent mouthpiece and clarinet maker.  He makes highly recommended mouthpieces.  I recommend a Fobes Debut mouthpiece for a beginner.  It is said to be significantly better than the mouthpieces that come with a student clarinet.  When you are ready to move up from a beginner mouthpiece, you will want to get a hard rubber mouthpiece, rather than plastic.  The Fobes Nova mouthpiece is a good mid-range hard rubber mouthpiece.
